Located over 250 miles (400 km) southwest of Cabo San Lucas, at the tip of the Baja California peninsula, Socorro Island forms part of a Mexican archipelago comprising four magnificent islands: Socorro, Roca Partida, San Benedicto, and Clarion. Though the term 'Socorro' often encompasses all four islands, this mystical paradise has earned the moniker 'Mexico's Galapagos,' revered by seasoned liveaboard divers who hold it in even higher regard than the legendary Galapagos Islands.
These islands are a spectacular magnet for the largest ocean pelagic animals in the world. Animals include schooling hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks, friendly bottlenose dolphins, silky sharks, Galapagos sharks, clouds of jacks and barracuda, tuna, wahoo, oceanic white tip sharks, whale sharks, and manta rays.
